UGG

In the late 1970s, Australian accounting student and avid surfer Brian Smith decided to change his life after hearing an introspective song on the radio. Inspired by Southern California's surf culture, he noticed that local surfers didn't wear sheepskin boots like those in Australia. Seeing an opportunity, Brian introduced the idea of sheepskin boots to the region.

Despite initial rejections from over 150 shops, Brian's determination led him to sell boots directly from his van at Malibu Point Beach. His grassroots efforts paid off as word of mouth grew, making UGG boots a local hit and eventually catching the attention of shop owners and celebrities.

By the mid-1990s, the UGG brand had gained significant popularity, leading Brian to partner with Deckers Brands in 1995 to expand globally. The brand maintained its commitment to quality and craftsmanship while innovating with new designs and materials to meet global consumer needs.
